Well, this is a pretty dumb reason to have a warrant out for your arrest!
Kelly Pavlik is retired, but he was once the middleweight boxing champ — and now he's spending his days relaxing on a beach sipping brews. Just kidding! He's skipping out on $25 cab rides in Ohio, and now the cops want to arrest him!
Apparently he stiffed a cab driver a $25 fare, and then didn't appear in court for it. So now there's a warrant out for his arrest!
The story is as old as time: he was out drinking in Youngstown, when he called a cab at 3 a.m. — and then he didn't pay for the ride. The word is that he did it on purpose too, and the cabbie called 911 to report it!
“I’m not paying. You go f**k yourself.”
Really? You're gonna treat the guy who just got you home safely at an unheard of hour like that?
His attorney says he’s been unable to reach Kelly, too!
There could be a much sadder side to this, unfortunately — but it is STILL not an excuse to treat a cabbie this way. Kelly has been battling alcoholism, and has been drinking heavily since his retirement in January. He's only 31.
Here's what one source said about that:
“His drinking is out of control. I’ll give him credit for not drinking and driving and taking a cab home from the bar, but the drinking is the root of his problems.”
We hope he finds the courage to battle his demons, we really do. We just hope he does it after paying the cabbie back, plus all the other legal fees.
Do the right thing, Kelly!
