If you were a major member of a 'religion' that left and began speaking against it, would it surprise you to hear that they were bad-mouthing you?
Leah Remini has NOT been silent about her distaste for her former affiliation with Scientology, and while that can be hard (Scientology is notorious for allegedly harassing ex-members), we're kinda disturbed to hear that she believes that because she's been so vocal the church wants her to FAIL during Dancing With The Stars!
"I'm going through a personal and big change for me and my family. The church is looking for me to fail so they can say to their parishioners, 'See what happens when you leave the church?' They're waiting for me to fail."
That IS extra pressure — especially if there are others within the church thinking about jumping ship and looking to Leah for inspiration!
The Church of Scientology, of course, said this in response:
"We know this may come as a surprise to someone as self-absorbed as Ms. Remini, but we could care less if she wins or loses on Dancing With the Stars."
Calling someone 'self-absorbed' doesn't sound very churchy, Scientology! In fact, it sounds catty and rude!
The best part of this, though, is that regardless of the extra pressure, Leah feels like DWTS has been the best thing for her:
"It's been a godsend. The love and support that I've received from Tony, from the cast, from the crew, from friends I didn't know I had? It offsets some of that [negative energy]. I'm going through the pain of losing friends of 30 years, but like I said, the show's been a godsend. I wake up, I'm happy, I have real friends, I have real love, I have real support, I have my family."
Stay strong, Leah! You got this!! Haters gonna hate!
