With his upcoming sitcom, Michael J. Fox has managed to turn his battle with Parkinson's disease into a positive thing in his highly anticipated return to television!
However, when he was first diagnosed at the age of 29, it was definitely NOT a laughing matter.
Michael recently sat down with Howard Stern, and he said that when he first found out he had the disease, things began to spiral out of control:
"I used to drink to party, but…now I was drinking alone and to just not be [present]. Every day."
Michael went on to say that things got pretty ugly for about a year or so before he was finally able to turn his life around:
"Then there was about a year of, like, a knife fight in a closet, where I just didn't have my tools to deal with it. Then after that, I went into therapy and it all started to get really clear to me."
How great to hear!
The Back To The Future actor also said that in addition to therapy, his career began taking off again and his marriage with Tracy Pollan was going great, and he was finally able to turn things around!
We're so happy to see that Michael is doing better now and things are going well, and we can't wait to see him back on TV where he belongs!
