Why should he apologize, as if it will make things better.. he believes one thing.. its not up to us to try to force him to believe another… this is bullshit…media

This man shouldn't have to apologize for his lifestyle. His family believes in traditional marriage and that's that. He didn't say he was homophobic… he didn't tell gays "don't buy my pasta because I don't like gays" he just said that's not how he chooses to market his brand. so what? its got his name on it, thats family history. dont fuck with people's family.

Yeah well Stephanie you have a point, don't fuck with the gays either when it comes to consumer bans we usually get our way.

    Stephanie…
    Don't fuck with peoples families..
much like he is trying to do by stating that gay people shouldn't adopt…
    food for thought.
I think homophobes shouldn't be able to reproduce.. but I would never express that opinion through a brand or company.

  6. 6

I think it's funny how you all are so quick to focus on his right to free speech while ignoring the rights he his trying to keep away from innocent people.

And I would think (well, I would hope) that you would feel very differently if he had said this about black people instead. Suddenly his right to free speech isn't a good enough cop out anymore.

Re: Stephanie – "Don't fuck with people's family"? Is this a joke? He just said he "absolutely doesn't think gays should be able to adopt". Is that not direct enough for you? Or were you joking to prove a point?

  7. 7

I support Barilla 100%! Been buying it long before this and will continue to do so. I laud his courage to stand up for his convictions and God Bless him Always! Homosexuality is against God. Point blank! Anyone can live the way they choose and he stated very clearly he BELIEVES in traditional families. That's his right. People of the world who disagree trying to impose their "values" on him and that is absolute injustice and tyranny and YES! a crucifixion! I pray for everyone, every Soul, every creature, everyday, because, before the Lord Jesus, every knee will bend! Amen!

  8. 8

he said he was sorry if people got their feeling hurt but he believes in traditional marriage. queers always boycott thats all they got so it will be up to the rest of us to support Barrilla. queers should have their own country away from the rest of us. these frankenstein babies are going to be real problems one day.

What frustrates me about the people who comment on this site is that they don't understand the way this system works. It's not your opinion vs my opinion, and we cancel each other out and all go home happy. BECAUSE MEANWHILE THERE IS A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO STILL DON'T HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AS YOU DO.

The civil rights act wasn't voted for by the public BECAUSE THE PUBLIC WOULDN'T HAVE PASSED IT. Think of where we would be if the government hadn't have stepped in?

It's very convenient for you people to just say, "Well he has a right to his opinion" but it's not YOUR rights that are being voted on. It's not just an opinion if you are actively trying to vote against the rights of innocent people. And it's not good enough to just simply agree to disagree when peoples' rights are at stake.

Again, I would hope that you would have felt very differently if this were the rights of African Americans during the civil rights movement or even slavery. "Well, he's entitled to his opinion" no longer seems appropriate, right? SHAME ON YOU people. You will be on the wrong side of history, and don't you dare have the nerve to remember it differently when your grandkids ask you what you did to change inequality in this country. "I defended the bigot's right to their opinions instead of the people whose rights were taken away" is going to go really well with them.

Re: Gisela8 – I'm so glad you're on the bad guys side because you sound absolutely bat-shit crazy. And please keep talking. Don't change a thing.

  11. 11

Re: Gisela8Re: shaygirl1309Re: Stephanie – AMEN!! Bless this man for standing up for what he believes in!!! nothing makes God angrier than two people falling in love if they are the same sex!! Nothing!! Queers wanting to get gay married…. This country is doomed!! First the blacks wanted to marry whites and now this. Its ridiculous!! Its Adam and Eve, not Adam and Shaniqua, people!! It's nice to know at least some people on this page are thinking straight. Bless you all!

  12. 12

Re: joethehobo – Shut up with your queer marriage. Your just as bad as the whites who wanted interracial marriage. Absolutely disgusting!!! Turning on your own people like that. Marriage is between a white man and a white woman, or a black man and a black woman!! You'll never CHANGE the definition of marriage no matter what laws you make. It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Shaniqua!! Bless you all!!

Re: shaygirl1309Re: Gisela8Re: travus212 – You people are disgusting waste of life. Read that fucking bible one more time, God has NEVER promoted the vomitous hate that you spew. THE FUCK are you doing on a website that you know very well is scribed by an openly gay man? Go back to the 14th century cave you crawled out of.

  14. 14

I find it funny that he cannot voice his opinions without being attacked by the gay community. And if the gay community voices their opinion, you do not dare voice your disagreement with it. Can you say "hypocritical"????? How about the gay community say something like: "Although we disagree with his thoughts and feelings, we respect his opinion as a free person."

  15. 15

Re: TREE73 – Let's see if you would 'respect his opinion' if he were trying to vote against your rights.

  16. 16

Re: TREE73 – I don't respect his opinion. He personally tries to rally people to ostracize other people for something they can't control, and tries to give someone who is already living a hard life an even harder life. It's because of people like him that thousands of children are committing suicide. Think how difficult it was for you growing up and then try adding the public's goal to make you feel unworthy of happiness to it. Furthermore, another reason why they kill themselves is because they see people like you who are not sticking up for them, but sticking up for guys like this jackass. When a bully slams a kid into a locker, you don't defend the bully's right to his expression of his opinion, you defend the kid pushed into the locker.

And I'll say it again, if you are saying the right thing to do during the civil rights movement or abolition movement was sticking up for the bigot's right to oppress black people instead of sticking up for the black people themselves, you are not worthy of my respect either. Your grandkids are going to ask what you did to help gay people when their rights were at stake, and they won't be happy with you saying, "I didn't stick up for them. I stuck up for the people trying to keep them down."

Re: joethehobo – He's not trying to rally anyone against anything… he just said he believes in traditional family… you guys have to understand that Barilla is an Italian company… Italy is not like america, there it's very different being gay they're not as open as we are in america so I get that you're mad because to you it's unconceivable that someone would say something like that but for them it's just as unconceivable that gay people exist…

  19. 19

LOL … no one is going to do a serious boycott of Barilla, just like no one did a boycott of Chick-fil-A. In fact, the very OPPOSITE happened at CFA when you queer bullies tried to force a boycott; CFA did HUGE business and you homos ended up getting laughed at.
    .
Re: Kristian – Tell that to CFA's record profits that resulted from your attempt to bully them, loser. You queers had egg all over your diseased faces over that one. This situation will be no different. Most of us are sick of you shitheads. :D
    .
Re: joethehobo – You queers don't deserve equality. All you know how to do is be pissy little bullies instead of using your heads. I can only suppose that being a disgusting homo robs you of any ability to think and act like an adult. You all should be forced to STFU and go back into the closet. Nobody likes a chronic whiner, and you're one of the worst. Just jump off a tall building so we'll have to endure one less nasty deviant.

  20. 20

Re: Caroline – I understand your point, but he is a business man. He understands that his actions will directly affect how people view his company.

Also, my point wasn't to bash Barilla. It was to expose the hypocrisy of the people commenting on this thread defending his right to free speech when they would have most likely wanted his head on a spear if he had said the same thing about black people.

  21. 21

Re: The Truthinator – Honestly, I can respect the fact that you are upfront about your feelings more than I can respect the people on this thread who are defending this man's statements based on free speech, who will most likely in 40 years claim they were nothing but the strongest allies for the gay community when their grandchildren ask them how they helped bring marriage equality into this country.

  22. 22

Re: Seto – I most certainly was NOT joking!! The state of our country is nothing to make fun of! The fact that I believe in TRADITIONAL marriage, which is between a WHITE man and a WHITE woman, or a BLACK man and a BLACK woman is nothing I am ashamed about. The FACT is that interracial marriage and gay marriage is NOT traditional marriage AND IT NEVER WILL BE, no matter what laws are passed in this God-forsaken country. Its Adam and Eve not Adam and Shaniqua!!! You all have a blessed day.

  26. 26

In my country "Philippines" we have a lot of Gay people, even Gay society called LGTB, I have lots of gay friends and they act nothing like most Gays in United states, why do you act like your from another planet, every time a person comments or give opinion, you guys hideously react?why is that? stop acting like your special people. Gay people in my country are open minded and they respect what others say about them, they just laugh about it.

Until gays feel equal, they're gonna co-opt pasta.

  28. 28

two things i dont eat pasta anyways but still wouldnt eat this BECAUSE i dont even know why he was talking about it like whats it matter if someone eats ur pasta whats ur pasta got to do with peoples lifestyle choices in relationships noone even asked him why even talk about it .. douche

  29. 29

besides the italian guy spend time saying they want to marry a virgin then FUCKING ANYTHING THAT MOVES so dont give me that shit about family values

  30. 30

Wow. The guy owns a business and is making decisions for his company based on his beliefs. He can do that, boys and girls, and you can choose to not buy his product. End of story. But no, we have to have hysteria and screeching about one groups rights, etc. If you are that fucking worried about rights, go to DC and straighten some things out - the BS going on there is much more of a threat to rights than a guy that owns a pasta company and doesn't want to make a commercial featuring a gay couple. Get a grip.

  31. 31

Re: chillax62 – Because interracial marriage and gay marriage are THREATS to traditional marriage!!!!

  32. 32

Re: moomyfish – Yeah, like those african americans fighting for their rights while they were slaves, right??? They should have just agreed to disagree because their slave masters were entitled to their own opinions, right??

  33. 33

Re: moomyfish – Well it is his company and I guess he can do what he wants to do. I have no strong opinion on their pasta, it seems a little overpriced, but that was 3 years ago when I used to cook, which I no longer do.

  34. 34

Re: joethehobo – I didn't say anything about OPINIONS. RIght? I didn't say to agree to disagree, right?? Read and file down that chip on your shoulder. Or are you one of those that just wants to perpetuate BS? Judging by your rant(s) it would appear you like stirring up whatever you can. Back off.

  35. 35

Re: teeter totter – Fresh pasta is better anyway!! It's funny how many brands there are out there and people can just buy that if they have an issue with what was said.

  36. 36

i dont know why ur blaming perez its all over cnn hes just reporting it ..

if the guy doesnt beleive in adoption for gays he doesnt have to worry thats what surrogacy is for see HE DOESNT GET IT … .. go figure …anyone can get a surrogate now so all this holier than thou shit is OBSELETE..!! noone has to adopt they grow their own

  37. 37

Re: moomyfish – This is exactly what you wrote: "The guy owns a business and is making decisions for his company based on his beliefs. He can do that, boys and girls"

Are you seriously not going to own up to what you wrote like 1 hour ago? You know we can see it, right?

As for the "chip on my shoulder", you'd be surprised how peeved you can get when you witness your rights being voted upon by other people, and even more so when they defend the rights of free speech for bigots instead of sticking up for the very basic rights of their fellow neighbors who just want to be happy.

I just looked at a photo of wheat that had both male and female flowers on the same plant.
I wonder what Guido the wheat pasta maker has to say about that.

  39. 39

Meh, boycotts generally do nothing, especially if it's an irrelevant, small minority like the LGBT. Remember the supposed boycott on chick-fil-a? It turned around and had record breaking sells for a week. They get free press, gays whine, they suffer no real drop in profit and things go back to normal. This is once again gays being intolerant, which is ironic. You must accept them 110% or else you're labeled a bigot and forced to change your mindset to accommodate them. Seems "tolerant"

  40. 40

Re: joethehobo – I know what I wrote, did you read it? Nothing about free speech, nothing about opinions. He can do what he wants. If he was forced to advertise in a manner that was acceptable to you would that make you happy? What about that rights thing??
As far as bigotry, you might want to check in the mirror. Either arguing is your thing or you are a professional victim. Being happy is your responsibility, no one else's. The world doesn't have to agree with you in order for things to be right.

  41. 41

    Re: moomyfish – ?

I just literally copied and pasted what you wrote about free speech and opinions.

  42. 42

Re: moomyfish – You tell them!!! They keep crying that we make life hard for them, but we don't want them to be happy!!! They are living in sin!! So yes, we are doing everything in our power make you NOT choose the gay life style because you know what? We're RIGHT and we CAN. God gave us the voting booths and God gave you perverts the voting booths and guess what gays? God keeps letting us win!! And guess what? Even if you DO change the laws, traditional marriage will always be between a white man and a white woman. Bless you all and bless you moomyfish!!

  43. 43

Re: moomyfish – Do you really think I care if the world agrees with me or not? I just want the same rights as everyone else. I could give a damn who barilla casts in its commercials, I'm talking about what he said about gay adoption and what he said about homosexuality.

You say we are all in charge of our own happiness, but can you at least try to sympathize with how it would feel to see your fellow citizens constantly deem your rights as not being equal to a regular citizen of the united states? You can call me a victim, you can call me whatever you want. You will never experience what it feels like to have millions of people around the country who don't even know who you are already hate you and question your entire sense of morality because of the way you were created. How can you sit here and tell me that we are all in charge of our own happiness? I legally can't get married to the person I love because my fellow citizens who don't even know who I am won't let me. The rules for you and I are not the same. Unfortunately for me, the way other people think and ultimately vote directly affects my life and happiness.

  44. 44

Re: joethehobo – Wah wah wah!! If it was really that hard then you would just choose to be straight. We are doing this for your own good. Interracial marriage and gay marriage will never be accepted in the eyes of God no matter what laws you change. My advice is that you stop focusing on the millions of people who hate you and instead focus on why God hates you.

Re: joethehobo – Yes, you copied and pasted and you still are putting YOUR spin on what I said. I did not say anything about free speech. You started with your free speech whine many comments ago with others. You are putting words in my mouth.
I don't know what it's like to not be able to marry the person I love. I would hate to be in that position. There isn't enough love in this world, I don't care who loves who, what color they are, what religion etc. I am not anyone's judge and you sure as hell are not mine. You would probably be happier if you weren't constantly looking for a way to attack. By the way, there are alot of people out there that have the same OPINION (there, I actually said it) I do and are not interested in judging people.
And whether you believe it or not, you are most definitely accountable for YOUR happiness, no one else is.

Excuse me but leave black folk out of this crap. BTW the same arguments we black people hear from racists are the same tired excuses that homosexuals do, ie everyone has a right to free speech, don't take it so personally, companys right to market to whom they want, and then folllows the fake arsed apology and then the perpetrator retains his job or gets rehired after being out of the spotlight for a select time which is getting REALLY OLD.

Black people not too long ago less we forget, FOUGHT hard for their rights nonviolently. These rights were not handed out. They suffered, were attacked by dogs, beaten, jailed, had their houses bombed, murdered along with a few very brave nonblack people who risked everything to further humanity. And the actions of those brave people made it easier for other groups to further their civil rights.
U want to talk about Black people then acknowledge the contributions they made towards HUMAN rights. Stop being so flippant and disrespectful. I see a bunch of whiners who don't know black history any more than their own. There were black and latin gays, dragqueens, transgenedered people in Stonewall riots who fought back against the homophobic power structure alongside poor white gay men and women.

I also recall a certain gay man who called a BM the Nword not too long ago and he's thriving.
If someone is NOT sorry why should they apologize. I'll take an unapologetic bigot anyday over a PC lying sycophant. At least I know exactly what to expect from the fool.
I DO NOT support homohobia but I do enjoy cheap pasta. You wannna boycott, have at it. I may consider it. But stop throwing black people under the bus, homosexuals. Moment that marriage prop didn't pass a few of your more extremist brethern attacked at random black couples and families in California assuming they weren't with your program(because the media told you so). Some of you seem to forget black gays exist also and that the black community is not a monolith.
Get your own house in order with how you treat blacks and gay minorities. Then we might think about an alliance… I do prefer fresh pasta afterall.

Re: SightlyAmused – Excellent! You actually make sense. It is appreciated after all the poor me BS. People have been subjected to horrific things and have fought back non-violently and achieved things they should have had in the first place.
I see where bitterness would come into anything that remotely suggests that someone follows a certain (negative) way of thinking. I appreciate someone acknowledging the issues and the battle but I do not see the point in perpetuating a problem with reverse racism. That is what I saw in previous comments from someone else and it does not do anything to forward attitudes or thinking.

  50. 50

Re: SlightlyAmused – I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Are you saying that black people and gay people have something in common with the way they are treated in this country or that gay people are on their own for this fight?
