Gordon Ramsay had a dream to be in the Guinness Book of World Records, but that hope was crushed under the weight of a 3,000 pound cupcake!
Such a bummer, but what a DELICIOUS bummer!
At the Grove in El Lay, Gordon and his troop of kids from MasterChef Junior wanted to make the world's largest cupcake, and they were going to do it, without practice, in front of the public! Unfortunately, that leaves room for errors — and the attempt ended when the monstrosity collapsed on itself!
"It collapsed in on itself. Three thousand pounds, that's a heavyweight. These attempts, sometimes people practice and then fake it. We went for it, and we were open and honest about it. Go big or go home, at the end of the day."
So what did they do instead? They attempted to make the world's SMALLEST cupcake, which was red-velvent and the size of a penny (above)!
"It's nice, taught them a lesson. Big is not always best, and, hey, 3,000 pounds. They know it's not how you start, it's how you finish … and Friday night, it starts. To me, the most important thing was, they got to take away the discipline. I think they can apply that discipline to other areas of their lives. You know what it's like, kids falling off the rails, getting into different areas they shouldn't go.
"Cooking is about parameters and staying within that parameters. Yeah, we had a cupcake nightmare. Where was Hollywood when you needed it?"
Well, it was the attempt that mattered! We're sure everyone learned a lot, especially from the mistakes!
Sounds yummy regardless!
