Honestly, we'd be waaaay more shocked had Ryan Anderson had NO emotional reaction to his girlfriend Gia Allemand's suicide, as it was such a tragic and awful thing to have happened… regardless of what he might have said to her before the event.
Ryan spoke publicly for the first time about the loss of Gia, and how he was coping. He was understandably brought to tears trying to explain what it was now like for him.
"Every day is a challenge. It helps to be here. My family's with me. To be here with my teammates really helps a lot, but it's a roller-coaster. Something like that just doesn't happen for no reason. And I know that … there's … a huge plan here …"
That's when he lost his composure. Not only was Gia his girlfriend, but he actually performed CPR on her before she was taken to the hospital where she later passed away. So he was there, present, during the final moments of her suicide.
"A lot of people are going to be helped from this. We're in the process of starting something great for her with her family, including my family, too. We have a huge plan to do something great, great in her name that's going to help a lot of people."
We can't even begin to imagine what he's going through.
Our hearts remain with him, his family, her family, and all their friends. We are so sad for their loss — we just hope they can find that comfort in what they're able to do for others through their struggle.
