It seems like we've had a lot of stories about terminally ill people and weddings lately, but we can't help but feel for each and every one of them!
Peyton Williams III, from Georgia, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer earlier this month. Running out of time, he and his girlfriend decided to take the leap anyway and tie the knot!
Unfortunately, it had to be in the back of an ambulance… though we're just glad it happened at all!
Peyton, 62, married the love of his life, Ruth Terry, who is 67. They've been dating for the past seven years, and recited their vows together from the back of a ambulance, sitting on a gurney, in front of the courthouse!
Here's what his daughter said:
"He went from work to hospice in about seven days. I'm glad that he can go really with a sense of peace that Ruth will be taken care of."
Such a sad yet happy occasion all wrapped into one.
We're glad that everyone was able to accommodate such an occasion — we're sure it meant a lot to Peyton, Ruth, and his family!
