The Miami Dolphins are in the middle of a full-blown bullying scandal after disgusting messages revealed Richie Incognito used racial slurs towards Jonathan Martin.
However, sources are now saying that the coaches may have ordered him to try and toughen up his younger teammate!
According to insiders, Dolphins coaches were NOT happy after Jonathan missed a voluntary practice last Spring and they recruited Richie to help "get him into the fold." However, they're now saying he may have gone too far with their request.
Um, you think?!?!?!
While it definitely seems like a good amount of the responsibility falls on the coaches for allowing things to get so bad, it sounds like this isn't an isolated incident with Richie.
In fact, his University of Nebraska teammate David Kolowski says he wasn't surprised at all to hear his name tied to a bullying scandal:
"Seeing this wasn't a shock, but I think the biggest shock was just the level that he took it to. Richie would kind of always take it to another level. The name-calling and some of the physical taunting and things of that nature were pretty commonplace."
Ugh! That's not cool at all!
David even said one of their teammates was so frustrated with Richie's methods that they walked off the field!
As we've said time and time again, hazing is pretty common for rookies in ANY sport, but usually it requires a silly haircut or picking up the tab at a restaurant.
Richie took things to a new low and the coaches simply watched as it happened, and hopefully they'll be punished accordingly.
