Red Hot Chili Peppers Drummer Gets Death Threats After Pretending To Wipe His Butt With A Brazilian Soccer Jersey!
Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith found out the hard way Brazilian fans do NOT joke around when it comes to soccer during a drumming clinic in Belo Horizonte!
Things seemed to be go smoothly at first, but they quickly took an ugly turn when he was gifted a Flamengo FC jersey, which is one of the more popular teams in Brazil!
Chad thought it would funny to stuff the jersey down his pants and pretend to wipe his fanny with it, but the fans were not amused and immediately booed him, with one even throwing something at his head!
The drummer took to Twitter to apologize, writing:
I want to apologize for my inappropriate antics at the drum clinic,my joke about team rivalries went too far. Flamenco fans…I'm sorry.

Chad even took things a step further by retweeting a picture (above) of himself wearing a Flamengo jersey while signing some autographs for fans!
However, for some the damage was already done as he began receiving death threats for the RHCP's upcoming concert in Rio de Janeiro this weekend! YIKES!!!
It seems pretty clear that Chad was simply trying to make a joke about rival teams and show some support for the local team Atlético Mineiro, but the joking part may have been lost in translation!
Ch-ch-check out the incident that sparked it all (below)!
