This is incredibly sad!
Last night, former President George H.W. Bush was taken by ambulance to Houston Methodist Hospital after experiencing a shortness of breath.
According to spokesman Jim McGrath, George W. Bush's father:

After hearing Roar, we think there was no other choice for UNICEF than the one they made: Katy Perry is their newest Goodwill Ambassador!
So inspiring — and we DEFINITELY think she has the perfect fanbase to help her in her active role in securing a "brighter future" for vulnerable young people!
Mainly, she'll be focusing on kids and adolescents struggling with poverty, violence, abuse, and neglect. You know, those who are in emergency and conflict situations, and her access to so many people all over the world will make it MUCH easier to spread the message!
"I believe young people have the power to change their own lives, with our help. I am honored to join UNICEF as a Goodwill Ambassador, and committed to doing everything I can to help children and adolescents who come from such different backgrounds but want the same thing: a brighter future."
She isn't the only one excited, either, and we're not surprised that UNICEF is screaming at the top of their lungs about her involvement! Here's what Anthony Luke, UNICEF's Executive Director, said:
"Katy Perry is already a champion for children, and we look forward to hearing her 'roar' on behalf of UNICEF. We are delighted that she is joining us as UNICEF's newest Goodwill Ambassador and lending her remarkable voice to amplify the voices of children and young people around the world."
We knew something was up when Katy visited Madagascar as part of a UNICEF mission earlier this year!
It really does seem like a match made in heaven!
Congrats, Katy! Good luck!!
