Justin Bieber Spends Time Shooting Hoops In The Philippines, Launches New Help Campaign!

| Filed under: Justin BieberMama NatureBasketballCharityGIFs

justin bieber basketball philippines typhoon

At first glance, you'd think Justin Bieber was just playing a game in a country that just got torn apart by a massive typhoon.

You'd be quick to judge, though, and wrong — yes, Justin is playing basketball, but he's also there to actually help! He launched a brand new campaign to help victims of last month's killer typhoon!

The basketball thing is just to raise spirits! He was playing basketball with children survivors of typhoon Haiyan during his visit!

We hope he does some major good for them! He has plenty of help he could be spreading around!

Great that he's doing this and good for him. But I don't trust that it's anything more than PR trying to compensate for his, well less than admirable behaviour. But regardless of his intentions or agenda, good that he's helping. Even though he's most likely just a figure head for someone else's work. Although what exactly has he launched? Or is it really just publicity stunt?

Re: Bongo – I have the same questions. Also, I have heard this complaint about other disaster areas as well, that when a celebrity flies in 'to help', the have an entourage that needs to be housed and fed in luxury and they end up being more of a drain on resources than a help.

Re: rosebud99 – For some reason that's a really good, and obvious point, that I've never considered. :) I highly doubt him or his people were roughing it out there, so can only hope that they brought in more than they took. Good spirits are always important, but more than that they need money and resources.

Justin has raised over half a million dollars for the Philippines - so the fact that he's playing basketball with them is just a friendly warm-hearted gesture to his fundraising campaign. And like all celebs- philanthropy and fundraising is always a PR thing. No need to say that JB is doing this just for PR.. he gets PR regardless of what he does, wears, eats, or who he's having dinner with, etc.

Re: JoannaRe: baracuda – Then I mean it good for him, by no means a fan of his but regardless of intention or his behaviour elsewhere, that's a great contribution. And if he got his fans to donate that much then I'm glad there is some positivity coming out of his position as a 'role model'. Just wish he'd grow up in every other area.

Guys, he just stuck his fingers up at "the haters" on his instagram account.
Doing this whilst KNOWING his has an average age of 15-16 in his fanbase.
Parents boycott this guy, what a douche. Teach him a lesson.

Re: BoycottBieber – His fans have asked for this for a long, long time.. For Justin to finally tell his haters off.. They know exactly who that picture was meant for. Why should he just take it, without dishing some right back at them. That includes you as well. Feel better now?

Re: rosebud99 – Justin is partnering with UNICEF for his fundraising endeavor. And he is using all the tools at his disposal in order to bring world wide media attention back to the plight campaign that is currently going on in the Philippines. Using his media influence is far more effective than just writing a check. As well he is reaching out to youth around the world to ask them to help their counterparts in the Philippines. It is proving to be very successful. Instead of creating an imaginary scenario about Justin Bieber, why open your wallet instead and send $$$

Re: BoycottBieber – OMG he flipped the bird. The END of life as we know it. Smh
The fans know how to flip the bitrd also. So nice of you to stalk his every post. You must be rosebudd's alter ego.

I was about to give rodebudd some props for not dissappearing when a story about Biebers goodwill is posted.
Sillt me of course she would come here and insinuate that this s all fake blah blah etc

Rosebudd your stupidity is showing. You don't have to like Bieber to know he is one of thee most famous celebrities. and that he doesn't need to do something for attention ha already has enough attention.
If the fact that he posted a shirtless picture can become a article. Is more than enough proof of just how much attention he has already.
