Andre Johnson should seriously consider changing his name to Santa Claus, because he is DEFINITELY in the Christmas spirit!!
For the seventh straight year, the Houston Texans wide receiver held his annual holiday shopping spree at a local Toys R' Us and gave 12 needy kids the ULTIMATE present!
The way it works is simple: A dozen kids are picked by Child Protective Services, and Andre gives them 80 seconds (which happens to be the number he wears) to stuff their baskets with as many toys as they can get their little hands on!
Each kiddie also got a helping hand from a Houston Texans cheerleader, and they were also given a gaming console with two video games on top of everything else!
The event has been near and dear to Andre's heart for the past several years, and he says it means a lot to give back to the kids who need it most:
"I remember times where I wasn’t able to get things that I wanted. It just gives them a chance to go through the store and get whatever they want. They don’t have to ask anybody for it. Whatever they have on their Christmas list they can pick up."
That's so awesome!
Soo how much did the shopping spree end up costing Andre?? At the end of the day the damage came out to a whopping $17,352! Wowzers!!
Surprisingly, the grand total comes just shy of last year's event, which cost him $19,521 and was his most expensive to date!
Nobody said being Santa Claus was cheap, but if you ask Andre Johnson, it's worth every penny! Way to go!!
