McDonald's Employee Website Advises Workers To NOT Eat Fast Food!!

mcdonalds health website warns against fast food

If your own employer tells you not to eat their food because it's unhealthy… well, we'd say that's a pretty good sign that customers should give it up too!

A McDonald's employee resources website is flat-out telling their workers not to eat fast food because it's awful for you! Here's what the site says:

"Fast foods are quick, reasonably priced, and readily available alternatives to home cooking. While convenient and economical for a busy lifestyle, fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt and may put people at risk for becoming overweight."

There's another bit of advice on the site for the workers that says it's waaaaay harder to eat healthy at fast-food restaurants, and that a sub with a salad is much healthier than a cheeseburger and fries. The site also mentions that fast-food portions are massive and make it even harder to be healthy.

Are… are they messing with us??

The site continues:

"In general, people with high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease must be very careful about choosing fast food because of its high fat, salt, and sugar levels."

Really, McDonald's? REALLY?

Here's how the restaurant has responded:

"Portions of this website continue to be taken entirely out of context. This website provides useful information from respected third-parties about many topics, among them health and wellness. It also includes information from experts about healthy eating and making balanced choices. McDonald's agrees with this advice."

Uh, there's nothing taken out of context. That's such a bullshizz response!

If you notice, they mention that portions of the site 'continue' to be taken out of context. What they're referring to is a while back when the website basically gave 'tips' to workers making minimum wage about tipping, personal fitness trainers and pool cleaners.

Oh, and don't forget about when they advised employees to get out of holiday debt by returning unopened purchases and suggested a budget cheat-sheet that said to spend no money for heat and $20 a month for health care.

This would be HIGHlarious if it weren't so sad!

    My letter to MC Donald,
Dear multibillion company, having its own financial interests at heart.
I agree wholeheartedly with you on your own interest and I must admit, I myself would be very disappointed if you were to disappear because I like your food.
However, it would be your advantage to remain silent instead of arguing when you have no chance of being right on some points. People eat and will continue to eat at your restaurant because they love it and knowing that it is not ALWAYS healthy choices.

So….you're upset that they tell the truth?

You'd prefer cigarette companies, for instance, to deny that their products are unhealthy?

They provide a product that is consumed by choice, and it seems they own up to the fact that it is unhealthy. Its black and white. High sodium, high calories, and high fat can be/are unhealthy.

The alternative (ie: denying the fact or ignoring it) seems worse than me.

It doesn't actually say not to eat the food. All it says is if you have health problems you should be aware that it isn't the best choice for you. It's the same thing any doctor would tell you. I'm sure when you were fat you would stuff your face with McDonald's all the time. Eating McDonald's in moderation won't make you fat…Being lazy and eating it all the time will make you fat. You as a former fat person should know this.

I eat there once in awhile, ate there Friday since I had not had lunch. Had a cheeseburger, small fries (love their fries) and a fruit smoothie but the service was terrible, took me almost 15 minutes to get my food. I also really like their fruit and walnut shack, but read they might be doing away with it. Sorry to hear that.
