CVS Gives The BEST Reason Why They've Made The Epic Decision To Stop Selling Cigarettes And All Tobacco Products! And The Obamas Approve!

CVS to stop selling cigarettes

Cigarettes can look sexy sometimes, but the long-term effects are disastrous!

CVS know that and have decided to lead the way in an epic move that hopefully all other pharmacies will follow.

They're going to phase out all tobacco products by October 1st, and even though, they're going to lose about $2 BILLION in revenue annually, they're doing it for an incredible reason!

CVS officials said that selling cigarettes right next to medicine just didn't help their cause of promoting good health, and in fact, CVS Pharmacies' President Helena Foulkes said:

"It was very important to us that, as we’re working with doctors and hospital systems and health plans, that they see us as an extension of their services. It’s virtually impossible to be in the tobacco business when you want to be a health care partner to the health care system."

That's so wonderful! With tobacco-related illnesses and the 480,000 deaths caused annually, we need companies to fight for this nation's health.

Speaking of this nation… its leader praised CVS' move! President Obama, who struggled with smoking for years, approved the move, saying:

"As one of the largest retailers and pharmacies in America, CVS Caremark sets a powerful example, and today's decision will help advance my Administration's efforts to reduce tobacco-related deaths, cancer, and heart disease, as well as bring down health care costs - ultimately saving lives and protecting untold numbers of families from pain and heartbreak for years to come."

That's incredible! Even the Prez gave them props, along with FLOTUS Michelle Obama, who tweeted out:

CVS is hoping to start a chain reaction that will make it much harder for smokers to find tobacco products as other companies join them, and, even though it'll be a financial hit to their 7,600 stores, it just makes sense.

Way to go for progress!

CVS has been around since the 60's & the surgeon general's warning has been on cigarette packs since the 60's too. Now all the sudden CVS has had an epiphany that cigs are bad & they have to stop selling them? I don't believe they make 2 billion a year profit on them. I think the revenue has been dropping & they're trying to make themselves look good w/ bs. I'm all for stopping the sale of a dangerous product, but be honest about it.

I care if they have an ulterior motive for not selling tobacco. This nation was founded on on greed and every politician has an agenda… I think it's a step in the right direction. Cigs are disgusting and I want to barf when I smell the stale smoke smell on person. Good for them!

They're 'working with health plans', who don't want to pay for smoker's illnesses down the road. It's social engineering. Smoking's not good for you anyway, but I suspect the reasons aren't all altruistic.

Re: karen – They only make about .05 per pack. The 2 billion they mention is on residual sales they make along with the cigarettes.
