Sochi Olympics Skier Heidi Kloser Breaks Her Leg DURING Her Event, But Makes It For The Opening Ceremonies! On Crutches!
The Olympic Opening Ceremony hadn’t even started and a skier is already out!
We were devastated when American Moguls skier Heidi Kloser crashed on Thursday, and completely tore her ACL, suffered a partial MCL tear, AND broke her femur, and she wasn’t even at the starting gate!
The 21-year-old Vail, CO native was on a training run prior to the moguls qualifying.
After the injury, Heidi asked her dad Mike Kloser if he still considered her an Olympian, to which he said, “Of course you are.” Mike added:
"She's completely bummed, as we are. She was really hoping, all things considered, to at least be able to start in Saturday's final qualifier. Regardless, she plans to walk in the opening ceremonies.”
In the end, Heidi was able to attend the ceremony with the help of some crutches! We're so glad that she got to walk with her team!
