Remember that South African 24 hour news station created specifically for the Oscar Pistorius trial that's starting in a few weeks?
Yeah, it's got a promo now (above) — and it doesn't convince us that it's necessary OR entertaining to devote so much time to such a trail spawned from an awful and tragic event.
We get it, people are interested. The problem we have is that it was a loss of life regardless if it was murder or an accident, and Reeva Steenkamp deserves better than the media whirlwind around Oscar because he's more famous than the average person!
News and trial results are instant enough with technology nowadays that people do not need a 24 hour channel devoted to a poor woman losing her life on Valentine's Day because her boyfriend shot her through a bathroom door.
Is this exploitation or not?
