Who knew getting coffee into the Olympics was such a shady ordeal??
Apparently, NBC has been running a top secret Starbucks in Sochi that is only available to their employees during the winter games!
Because Starbucks isn't an official sponsor of the Winter Olympics, they technically aren't supposed to have ANY presence in Sochi whatsoever! In fact, the only sponsor who is supposed to be brewing coffee in the area is McDonald's!!
So, how are they getting away with this caffeinated covert operation?? Well, NBC is claiming the Starbucks facility as a "personal item," since it's in their offices and NOT open to the public, however, they do say they're open to sharing every now and then!
Apparently this excuse is totally working too, as IOC representative Rachel Rominger says it's all good as long as they don't make their Starbucks open to the public or suggest any affiliation with the olympics.
It seems a bit crazy that NBC would go to such lengths just to have a Frappuccino, but hey, to each their own!!
