Ashley Wagner SLAMS The Judges At The Sochi Olympics! Uses A Shockingly Offensive Term To Describe How She Feels!

ashley wagner slams olympic ice skating judges

And, NO, we're not talking about that time she mouthed "bullsh-t!" But, still, this is very telling.

Ashley Wagner has NOT been afraid to speak her mind about the judging at the Sochi Olympics, and once again she's letting the world know that she isn't happy with her score!

Just yesterday, the U.S. figure skater was visibly excited after finishing two programs without any major hitches or falls, but was disappointed and said she felt "gypped" when she found out she fell all the way down to seventh place behind other skaters who had mistakes in their routines!

It's obvious that Ashley is not aware that "Gypped" is a stereotypical and racist term against Gypsies and is quite offensive.

After receiving her score, her exact words were:

"I feel gypped. People don't want to watch a sport where you see people fall down and somehow score above someone who goes clean. It is confusing and we need to make it clear for you. To be completely honest, this sport needs fans and needs people who want to watch it. People do not want to watch a sport where they see someone skate lights out and they can't depend on that person to be the one who pulls through. People need to be held accountable."

Wow, girl! Tell us how you really feel!!

Ashley went on to attack the judging, and says if there isn't a big change made soon, the sport will continue to suffer:

"They need to get rid of the anonymous judging. There are many changes that need to come to this sport if we want a fan base, because you can't depend on this sport to always be there when you need it. The sport in general needs to become more dependable."

Ashley ended up 7.37 points behind fifth place finisher Julia Lipnitskaia and Adelina Sotnikova took home the gold medal in the individual competition, and she seems to think the Russian figure skaters had a bit of a home field advantage:

"The crowd was very supportive of the Russians, so to be a Russian figure skater must have been absolutely incredible to get out there, period… I came into this event knowing pretty well that that was how it was going to go. It is not fair to the skaters who work so hard to become noticed if they are not going to have a sport that backs up what they are doing."

The 22-year-old has already said she fully intends to return to the Winter Olympics in four years when they're held in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Ashley's clear disappointment in the judging has been a pretty big storyline at Sochi this year, which is odd because she herself was chosen as the top three U.S. women to go to Sochi despite falling in Nationals. Her fellow American figure skater Mirai Nagasu had a flawless routine, but was still named alternate.

Hmph.

Next time, let's hope Ashley uses her words more wisely.

perez, you're an idiot. she wasn't gypped though. all those things she said about being able to depend on the person who gives the clean skate to pull through? haha. she should never have been at the olympics in the first place. that girl whose place ashley stole, thats who was gypped. it's kind of like punishing OJ after the fact, for something else, with what everyone else knows he deserves.

Sorry if this offends, but pick up a paper, especially one in Europe or Britain, and show me a gypsy that isn't a thief or destroying the land of others around them. I'm not making it a thing of race or talking about a specific ethnicity of gypsies, such as Roma, but the 'wandering' gypsies. Blunt but wait till they migrate to the states, this ISN'T a race thing, but a way of life by certain people.

I agree with you Perez, she fell and Mirai din't and she still got to go to they Olympics, obviously she didn't to got at nationals, and even worse at they olympics, and has the nerve to run her mouth? Adelina deserved gold for both her routines, Ashely needs to learn class from the younger Mirai.

Perez, you are so lame. Hang it up.

  5. gypped..? says – reply to this

That is not a derogatory word or meant to be used as one. I rarely hear that word used anyway, mostly by old people. Do we really need to take everything someone says so literal and make a big deal about it? She must be racist then right? Let's pull the racist card again! Get over it my god just post the story, no need to open a can of worms about something so silly.

  6. 6

FUCK OFF PERVEZ, you're much more offensive than ANY word.

    7

Gipped is racist now?! It's the media trying to provoke unrest between different groups of people so they have more news to report!

Gypped isn't that bad. Quit splitting hairs and trying to make something out of nothing.

You shouldn't put words in peoples mouths.

*Jipped* is a word. I'm sure she did not mean it how you decided to imply it. Ridiculous.

  10. 10

She makes some really good points. I didn't even know gypped is a derogatory term for a gypsy?

Oh come on! She should have said "I was F@*KED!"
    Not offended.

We use this term all the time in Australia and trust me none of us are thinking of gypsies.

Even still its pretty important to view such connotations in a contemporary view point rather than default to the views of old.

Its a little thing called progression.

    Just sayin'

  13. 13

IMHO it was the Korean girl who got robbed.

Really ridiculous that you called her out for using the word jipped (how the term used by most americans is spelled - so really not even referring to gypsies). She's making valid point about the sport and all you can focus on is one word that most anyone in the US would not know is offensive. Garbage.

Ashley has worked her ass off pretty much her entire life. And for anyone who has been in a competitive sport knows the frustration of performing ur best and not receive the scores u know u deserve ! Her opinion on this is on point. Leave her alone!

Re: caitlin – …Actually it is spelled Gypped, and is derived from Gyp, referring to or about Gypsies. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but spewing incorrect info is intolerable. (Especially when spell check is a thing)

    20

Its jipped. And its not racist its a word old people use. This PC stuff really is going too far.

  21. barb says – reply to this

Would she be saying the same thing had she won…I doubt it. I don't know this girl at all but she's a great skater, I'll give her that (even though I really didn't care for her routine too much, in comparison to the more graceful routines of the others) but my impression of her, as a person) from what I saw at the Olympics is that her head may have become just a mite "oversized." There's being confident and then there's being arrogant. The judging for skating has always been open to criticism and I really don't know how they can fix that….do you?

  22. pfff says – reply to this

    22

what a sore loser!! Seriously u weren't the only american against russians so stop blaming your poor performance on that! This is lame she deserves to never go back to the olympics! She sucked, and got the score she deserved! GET THE FUCK OVER IT WHINER

  23. 23

You're absolutely right. She shouldn't have said gypped. She should have said the judges were really gay.

  24. @v@ says – reply to this

    24

This topic comes up too often. The Olympic and world figure skating bodies need to come up with an intelligent way to make judging more transparent and provably above board so that each competition is a level playing field.

I really feel bad for her, she was robbed. And yes young people have to speak up or they will get walked all over.It happens way to much in the world today . It ruins it, because these people have trained there whole lives, and have given up on normal teenage experiances.

Perez the word Jipped (correct spelling) has been used for years, and it certainly has nothing to do with race. OMG get a life. Write about something that makes sense, instead of trying to cause more race tension. Certainly not more about the Kardashian bunch, or the butt twerting of Miley Cyrus. There must something decent to write about.

    28

Re: URNATIONALEMBARRASMENT – The honest kid is saying the Emperor has no clothes. Judging has been a chronic problem, and for decades. They need to fix it. I can't say if she was robbed or not, but watch the skating and have had many doubts over the years and am able to remain nationally objective.

  29. 29

110% of the time when someone says "gypped" they aren't thinking about gypsies, they probably don't even know who/what gypsies are. So it's impossible for them to be insulting them on purpose. Therefore they or anyone else is a moron who thinks that's offensive. This PC crap is getting out of fucking hand now. So much suppression of the 1st amendment it's insane. Fortunately it's just whiny people making a fuss so they won't affect much.

  30. JENNAMAZZA says – reply to this

    30

IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS TO SAY THE WORD JIPPED IS SOMEHOW A RACIAL SLURR. SHAME ON YOU PEREZ!!!!!! I LOVE YOU, YOU KNOW BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT SHE SAID HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH GYPSIE!!! YOU KNOW SHE IS NOT A RACIST!!!

  31. Lala says – reply to this

    31

It's ironic that Ashley is whining about the same thing that got her into the Olympics in the first place. Irony is a bitch. I bet Mirai would not only have won if she went, but behaved with more class. Her juvenile behavior and poor attitude are embarrassing to the U.S. You can't bully and whine your way through life. I'm glad she got a wake up call.

Btw, Perez copied this article from another source and that is how they spelled the word "gypped," which we know by the other spelling "jipped." Also, if you think Perez is an idiot, get off his blog.
