While most people are gathering their beads and getting ready to get their drink on for Mardi Gras, the rest of us know today is about one thing and one thing only: PANCAKES!!!
That's right! Today is pancake day, meaning it's time to celebrate the warm and fluffy goodness that fills our tummies with happiness on a regular basis! So we thought we would recognize some of the most awesome achievements in breakfast history with 7 world records that will forever change the way you look at (and possibly eat) flapjacks!
Tallest Stack Of Pancakes
On March 9th 2013, Belgian masterminds Marc De Bruyckere, Kurt Dobbelaere, Michel De Pauw, and Joeri Van den Bussche all managed to create a stack of pancakes that stood 2 feet and 8 inches tall!
Most People Tossing Pancakes
A grand total of 890 people set this amazing record at the University of Sheffield in 2012, however, it could have been MUCH bigger! More than 1,500 signed up for the event but only 930 actually showed up, and 40 of them were disqualified for dropping their pancakes! OOPS!!
Most Pancakes Made In 1 Hour
Ross McCurdy might as well change his named to the Pancake Machine, because last year he singlehandedly managed to make 1,092 flapjacks in just 60 minutes! That's pretty impressive, but the real question is how many did he eat??
Most Pancake Tosses In 1 Minute
Back in 2012, Australian Brad Jolly managed to flip a pancake 140 times in a minute! That's more than 2 flips a second!!
Most Pancakes Made By A Team In 8 Hours
A team of 175 volunteers for Batter Blaster LLC managed to kick out 76,382 pancakes in 8 hours back in 2009, and even better was they served 20,000 empty tummies!
Highest Pancake Toss
Dominic Cuzzacrea managed to beat out his old record in 2009 when he tossed a pancake 31 feet and 1 inch into the air, more than 11 inches higher than his previous record!
Most Pancakes Thrown And Caught In 1 Minute By 2 People
This isn't exactly a convention record, but Ashrita Furman and Bipin Larkin teamed up in New York to 46 pancakes in just one minute in 2009! If you're wondering how this worked, it's pretty simple: Bipin placed each pancake in a frying pan and tossed them to Ashrita, who caught all of them without breaking any!
