Ex-Police Commander Testifies In Oscar Pistorius Trial As Gruesome Evidence Photos Are Shown! Did The Cops Make Mistakes?? Find Out Here!
It really sounds like former Col. G.S. van Rensburg just handed the defense a lot of material to use to discredit the case, including a truthful account of mishandling evidence.
Before he took the stand, though, the police photographs were shown — and they were graphic! This time, however, Oscar Pistorius was able to keep his lunch down while viewing the pic of the aftermath/scene of the night he killed Reeva Steenkamp. The last time he threw up all it took was the pathologist to describe the autopsy.
This is when Van Rensburg was called to the stand to talk about his experience with the case from when he arrived on the scene. He didn't arrest Pistorius immediately, but did warn Oscar to remain at the house — which is pretty interesting.
"I told him I observed him as a suspect at that stage. I warned him of his rights. I said to him I wasn't arresting him at that stage … I requested him to remain present at all times at the scene."
This is when things took a turn in favor for Oscar, because van Rensburg then recalled when he was in the bathroom — specifically when he turned around and saw the firearms EXPERT handling the gun, taking out the magazine, without gloves!
"I asked him, 'What are you doing?' I was very angry."
That's when the cop said he was sorry, put the magazine back in the gun, put it back down, then put on some gloves.
Van Rensburg then spoke about a box of expensive watches that seemed to have one of them go missing during the investigation, which led to a frisking of all the officers and a theft case being opened.
It honestly sounds pretty bumbling to us — which would be a shame if Oscar really did kill Reeva in cold blood and not because he thought she was an intruder.
The defense has plenty to play with here in a bid to get Oscar off.
