Scarlett Johansson was on a roll this weekend! After speaking out about the Woody Allen molestation allegations, she had even more to say about the SodaStream/Oxfam controversy!
And, you know what? She's sticking to her guns!
You may recall that ScarJo chose to leave behind Oxfam, whom she has worked with since 2005, because they had an issue with her SodaStream partnership!
SodaStream operates out of Israel’s West Bank, which Oxfam is NOT happy with, but ScarJo defended her choice to stick with them, saying:
“I stand behind that decision. I was aware of that particular factory before I signed. And it still doesn’t seem like a problem – at least not until someone comes up with a solution to the closing of that factory and leaving all those people destitute.”
Seems reasonable to us! Knowing that you play a part in putting people out of work would be some bad juju for sure!
The momma-to-be also added that the issue was “very easily debatable,” and explained further:
“In that case… I was literally plunged into a conversation that’s way grander and larger than that particular issue. And there’s no right side or wrong side leaning on this issue… I think for a non-governmental organization to be supporting something that’s a political cause… something feels not right about that to me. There’s plenty of evidence that Oxfam does support and has funded a BDS [boycott, divest, sanctions] movement in the past. It’s something that can’t really be denied.”
As for the issue at hand though, at least it sounds like she consciously made a decision she thinks is the right one.
That’s better than backtracking, no?
