U.S. Olympic Hockey Player's Newborn Daughter Is Recovering From Surgery After Being Born With A Super Rare Condition!
The past couple of months have definitely been a bit of a whirlwind for T.J. Oshie!
The NHL star became the hero of the U.S. Men's Hockey team at the Sochi Olympics after a thrilling shootout victory over Russia, he's leading his St. Louis Blues to one of the top records in the league, and he just recently became a father to a beautiful baby girl!
However, the excitement of parenthood quickly turned sour when doctors told T.J. and his fianceé Lauren Cosgrove that their daughter Lyla Grace had a condition called gastroschisis, which means she was born with her intestines outside of her body.
Luckily, the surgery required has a VERY high survival rate and doctors were able to act quickly, but mom and pops had to face the difficult task of waiting for their little angel to recover. In fact, it was almost a WEEK before Lauren was able to hold Lyla for the first time!
Fortunately the little one is making a full recovery and they should be able to take her home early next week! We're so glad to hear Lyla is recovering nicely and we couldn't be happier for T.J. and Lauren!
