Schools Are Taking A Stand Against Junk Food! Find Out How AND WHEN They're Looking To Make Kids Healthier HERE!
This definitely sounds like a step in the right direction!
Starting July 1st, schools across the country will be putting in strict guidelines which will effectively BAN junk food from their campuses for good!
The big change is a part of the USDA’s Smart Snacks in School rules, which is looking to enforce healthier eating habits in students by providing fruits and vegetables as alternatives to sugary snacks!
But the rules don't just apply to cafeterias and vending machines on campuses. It also affects school fundraisers, meaning sudents wont be allowed to sell candy or any junk food!
Meals must also pass strict guidelines, such as a 250 calorie maximum on entrees as well as a 230mg sodium maximum on snacks! Also, caffeine is ONLY permitted in high schools!
The reaction to the new rules has been mixed thus far, but if you ask us, this is a good way to start building better eating habits in students!
