For the past week, all eyes have been on the Los Angeles Clippers after their owner Donald Sterling was banned from the NBA for his racist remarks!
Well LA's other team has also had its fair share of drama after a train wreck of a season, and things have finally come to a boiling point as Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni has resigned!
In just two seasons, Mike had a not-so-great 67-87 record and led the Lakeshow to their worst season since the franchise moved to southern California with their 27-55 record this past year. However, some feel he never got a fair shot at the job considering stars like Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash were constantly battling injuries during his time as head coach.
Mike must have known the end was coming as he only had one guaranteed year left on his contract, and when he asked the team to pick up his option for the 2014-2015 season, they flat out refused!
While his resignation might appear to be a sign of troubling times, fans of the purple and gold are actually pretty thrilled with the move, particularly Laker legend Magic Johnson who did NOT hide his excitement when he tweeted:
Happy days are here again! Mike D'Antoni resigns as the Lakers coach. I couldn't be happier!

Wow! Tell us how you really feel, Magic!
Now that Mike is officially gone, speculation has already started swirling over who will take over! A few names that have already been thrown around are University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari and Kevin Ollie, who JUST led the UConn Huskies to a national title!
Despite their awful season, the Lakers are expected to make some big moves this offseason, and you can bet they're going to snag a big name to coach all of the stars they're expected to bring in!
