debbie reynolds says carrie fisher lost 40lbs star wars role

That’s true dedication!

The legendary actress Debbie Reynolds looked fabulous as ever as she chatted with Mario Lopez on Extra, and of course her daughter came up!

Carrie Fisher, aka Princess Leia, has been tapped to reprise her role for the newest Star Wars, but she had to/wanted to (hopefully she wasn't forced!) drop some serious poundage to make it happen.

Reynolds revealed:

“They’re in London now. Shes very excited about it She’s been on a diet ever since [she was cast in the film], because you know they have to be up to par, so she looks terrific. She’s lost 40lbs. She's very excited, as we all are, because we all love Star Wars.”

And the best news is that if Carrie loves the part so much, the weight loss probably doesn’t seem like much of an issue at all!

We can't wait to see her!

Good for her. She has quite the wit and intellect and who wouldn't look forward to doing that movie. It's like getting in shape for a reunion. It works. Middle age equals weight creep and constant battle to stave off poundage and keep it from getting worse.
Forty pounds is extraordinary. Now she has loads of leeway when the movie's over lol.

She could have lost 40 lbs in one leg! Saw her live in her one woman stage production — the large bathroom was XXXL!! Probably her "clever" idea to make it feel more homey? NOT. She couldn't stay on script without hints being projected on the back wall of the theatre. And no, we weren't a test audience. We were one of the last to see it before she filmed it for HBO. I am hoping she can keep it together for Star Wars' sake. I am looking forward to the next one.

Debbie Reynolds is a great performer (or was), saw her in Vegas many years ago at the old Desert Inn and was impressed since I was not expecting much.
Good to Carrie for losing the weight, but do we really need another remake or sequel?
