They just want it all for themselves!!!
We’ve all been hearing for years how chocolate and red wine in moderation may actually help your heart and lead to better health!
But were we being lied to??
Resveratrol, a substance found in the grapes and cocoa that make up wine and chocolate, was what many experts believed to be the life changing ingredient.
Dr. Richard Semba, a professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine explained his new findings, saying:
"When it comes to diet, health and aging, things are not simple and probably do not boil down to one single substance, such as resveratrol. Perhaps it brings us back again to rather tried and true advice of diet — Mediterranean-style — and regular aerobic exercise for healthy aging.”
For Dr. Semba’s study, his team followed nearly 800 men and women 65 years or older in Italy’s Chianti region.
These individuals had a diet rich in resveratrol.
But when the research team looked at the resveratol levels of those who were healthy and those who were unhealthy or who died, there was no difference!
In fact, the lowest rates of heart disease were in participants with the lowest levels of resveratrol! So why have we always thought the opposite of these new findings?
Probably because earlier research was carried out in animals!
But this study on actual humans seems to show that resveratrol doesn’t have the same effect!
If you’re worried about having to give up your wine though, never fear! The American Heart Association STILL recommends one to two drinks per day!
Resveratrol or no resveratrol, we’re still going to go bottoms up with some wine every so often!
