Shelly Sterling is not giving up without a fight!
The estranged wife of Donald Sterling is now saying that she wants to keep her ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers, despite calls from fans and the NBA itself for her to sell the team!
She sat down for a one-on-one with Savannah Guthrie this week in an attempt to explain why she’s not backing down.
"I'm very angry. And I'm very hurt. Why am I the victim when he's the perpetrator? If somebody killed somebody, does the wife have to stand trial too?”
Miz Sterling also commented about her husband’s interview with Anderson Cooper, in which he made even MORE offensive comments about African-Americans AND denigrated Magic Johnson because of his HIV status!
Shelly Sterling said:
"He's not the man I know, or I knew. There's something wrong. I really think, personally, he has dementia. I don't think it happened overnight. I think it's been happening, but nobody really knew the reason. I mean, he gets crazy, and yells, and screams, and hollers one moment. The next moment he'll…talk about something else. I mean it's like nothing makes sense.”
OK, well, dementia might make a person confused or delusional. But never have we ever heard RACISM listed a symptom of dementia!
As we reported earlier this week, there is talk that current Clippers players would refuse to play for the team IF Shelly Sterling is still at the helm next season.
But she claims she still has the support from at least SOME players, as well as the fans!
"I went to the game about two days ago. I was sitting up in the box. All the fans right below me were high-fiving me, saying, 'Go girl. Don't give up.' I talked to some of the players. They hugged me.”
Hmm. We find that hard to believe.
But when asked just how far she's willing to fight to hold onto her beloved LA Clippers, Shelly answered:
“As far as I can go.”
Something tells us this is going to get worse before it gets better!
