Talk about real life superheroes!!
The cast of The Avengers has recently rallied around one of their biggest fans — Stratford Caldecott, who was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer back in 2011.
Sadly, he was only given 12 weeks to live and was in such poor health he couldn't make it to a theater to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier. So his daughter, Sophie Caldecott decided to take action and call upon the superheroes to make her father's wish come true!
It started simply enough, with the family getting in touch with Marvel and requesting a DVD copy of Captain America so he could watch it at home! But Sophie also had bigger plans, and asked that the actors tweet a selfie of themselves holding a sign with their superhero name while using the hashtag #CapForStrat!
The Hulk (AKA Mark Ruffalo) was the first to respond, and it didn't take long for his fellow Avengers to take action as Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Evans all followed along! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actors also took action, as Elizabeth Henstridge, Cobie Smulders, Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet, and Brett Dalton also tweeted selfies!
And if getting personal messages from his favorite heroes wasn't cool enough, Marvel also agreed to hold a special screening of Captain America:The Winter Soldier at Stratford's home!
Sophie was overwhelmed with the support she got for her father, and now she says she hopes the campaign can help raise awareness for prostate cancer! It probably doesn't hurt that she has the Avengers on her side!
