Jennifer Love Hewitt is NOT happy these days, and we honestly don't blame her!
The actress has filed a lawsuit against a product that was first featured on the show Shark Tank for using her likeness without her permission!
The product is called Slim Spray, a "slimming spray", that even Shark Tank investors described as:
"But you realize how stupid this sounds, right? It's a scam… I mean it's a hustle."
In the suit, filed on Wednesday, Jennifer Love Hewitt's legal team claims that:
"a large portion of the Defendant's marketing campaign hinges on the exploitation of celebrities"
And that by using Jennifer's image they are damaging her "stellar reputation and credibility."
The photo that the company has been using of Jennifer Love Hewitt was taken when the actress attended a "gifting suite" party that Slim Spay operators claim she was totally OK with at the time.
The company that produces the product The Marz Group said:
"We find this lawsuit hard to swallow given that Ms. Hewitt came to a gifting suite that MarzSprays attended, asked us extensively about our Oral Spray… We legally purchased all of the images of celebrities that attended the gifting suite. In fact, we received a dozen images of Ms. Hewitt reading the ingredients and talking to our employees about the benefits of our products, all of which she posed for. If she didn’t want her image to be used, it’s odd she would attend a gifting suite where she then posed for the camera a dozen times with our products."
Well, unless it was specifically clear to Jennifer Love Hewitt that her image would be used - then we definitely think the actress is in the right here.
Hopefully they'll cease and desist this as soon as possible. Maybe if their alleged weight loss product wasn't so bad, then Jennifer Love Hewitt wouldn't be so mad, but alas it is - and here we are.
