Michael "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock” Horovitz took the caffeine concocters to court where a jury sided with the boys from Brooklyn and awarded them a cool $1.7 million!
After the ruling, Horovitz spoke about his satisfying victory, saying:
"We're happy. We just want to thank the jury.”
The tracks that Monster used without permission include the Boys MONSTER hits Sabotage, So Whatcha Want and Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun.
Chyeah! Those classics ain’t free, guys! You gotta pay for those!
Monster called the lawsuit “illogical” and explained that the songs were used after an employee mistakenly believed the company had permission to use their music.
That employee just cost you almost $2 million…
The energy drink’s legal team stated their plans to appeal but, this sounds like an open and shut case to us.
You want to use the rhyme, you gotta pay some dimes!
