We get it, safety first and everything, but this is just HIGHlarious!
San Diego Padres pitcher Alex Torres came into the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend, only he looked different than usual.
Torres was wearing the new
Mario-inspired hat that MLB has approved for pitchers, to save their craniums from line drives. He agreed that the hat was odd, but said:
“It could save our lives if someone hits a ball to your head. I get it for free, so I’m just gonna use it to see how it feels.”
Swaggy! Fortunately for the world, legendary baseball announcer Vin Scully was on the mic when Torres came to the mound, so we’ll let him explain it like only Vin can (below)!
