We bet there will be a big divide of opinion on this!
A flight attendant working for the Australian airline Jetstar gave many of the passengers onboard a BIG heads up, but many people aren't so appreciative of the attendant's actions!
This past Sunday about 210 passengers were flying on one of the airline's planes returning to Sydney from a music festival called Splendour in the Grass in Gold Coast.
So when the flight attendant heard that police were awaiting this plane's arrival to possibly arrest any drug holding passengers - the flight attendant decided to warn them all.
Here's what the flight attendant apparently said:
"We have been told there are sniffer dogs and quarantine officers waiting in the domestic terminal. If you need to dispose of anything you shouldn't have, we suggest you flush it now."
That was when many passengers got up simultaneously with "things clenched in their hands" heading for the bathroom.
One irate passenger however was not happy with how everything went down. The unnamed person said:
"Why would you tip people off about this? If they have got something illegal, let them get caught."
We guess the airline Jetstar received a bit of backlash too because they released a statement on Wednesday where they said:
"The crew member's words were poorly chosen and are plainly at odds with the professional standards we'd expect from our team. We're addressing the matter with the cabin crew member involved."
However the airline however usually has a automated message on hand that warns passengers of the drug sniffing dog doom that awaits them anyway, but we guess the folks at Jetstar were unhappy at how blatant the flight attendant's warning was.
Since then though A LOT of people have gone on Facebook to commend the flight attendant's actions.
One Facebook user by the name of Chris Hart wrote:
"Way to look out for your fellow man ! Hats off to the Attendant for being a Human being!"
And a Quintero Pitts wrote:
"KUDOS! To the flight attendant that warned everyone! Remember who your customers are. The people on the flight not the inspectors on the ground!"
And that is just a small sample of the appreciative messages being written on the airline's Facebook page.
It definitely seems there will be a lot of backlash if the flight attendant is fired for their actions - we wonder what Jetstar will do?
After all - their employee really was essentially just looking out for their customers' interests! Right?
