Just when he was getting back on-track too…
Jay Adams, of the legendary Z-Boys skateboarders, passed away on Friday of what is a suspected heart attack.
Adams was one of the skaters portrayed in the film Lords of Dogtown, which was about skateboarding in Venice, California.
The 53-year-old had gone through two stints in prison, and come out on the other side a changed man who was getting his life together, according to his friend Allen Sarlo.
Sarlo was on the Puerto Escondido, Mexico with Adams, and Adams' wife Tracy. On Thursday, after catching a big wave and saying ‘this was the best surf trip of his life,’ Adams went to sleep because he wasn’t feeling well.
Friday morning, Tracy told everyone in their group that Jay was choking, and an ambulance was called, but he was sadly dead.
Jay has left behind a huge legacy, especially in the world of skateboarding, and he is already sorely missed!
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
