EXCLUSIVE! Remember When Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Lattes Had Ingredients You Might Not Have Liked? Here's Their Response!

A rep at Starbucks gives us the inside scoop on what goes into Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

So remember when we told you that Starbucks's super awesome seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte DIDN'T have any actual pumpkin in it and DID contain lots and lots of unhealthy ingredients??

Well it turns out that there's more to the story than meets the eye!

Sadly, you STILL wont find any bits of real pumpkin in your tasty beverage. However, a rep from Starbucks contacted us to clear the air on some of the other accusations:

"The standard recipe for Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte at company-operated and licensed stores does not contain high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), and is sweetened with sugar. We are actively looking at phasing out caramel coloring. In any instances where it is used in our beverages, the level is well below the No Significant Risk Level (NSRL) and safe to consume.

As a company, we take pride in providing full ingredient transparency to our customers so they can make whatever choice is right for them on their beverage selection. The high level of personalization of Starbucks beverages available allows customers to enjoy a unique Starbucks Experience and tailor their drink to match their own personal taste preferences – including the selection from a variety of fresh dairy selections and soy milk, a combination of syrups, and coffee/espresso options and toppings. If customers have questions about any of the items offered in our stores, they can ask their barista for a list of ingredients. We’re also working on listing core beverage recipes online via Starbucks.com and hope to have an update in the near future."

Wow! Talk about transparency!!

It's always nice to see companies being so open and honest with their customers, ESPECIALLY when it concerns something that”s going into our bodies!

And now we can sip on a Pumpkin Spice Latte COMPLETELY guilt-free!

    They said NOTHING except they don't use HFCS. They said they are phasing out the caramel color (but it's still there). Transparency? Really? I have a bridge I'd like you to buy.

    Re: Soupy Sales – It's not a PUMPKIN latte, it's pumpkin spice. Bitching because it doesn't have pumpkin in it is like bitching that your steak sauce has no steak in it.

    yummy, caramel color increases the risk of developing lung cancer and leukemia, at every dosage level. Toxicologist Dr. Urvashi Rangan sez, “There is no ‘safe’ level of 4-MeI, but if you have set a threshold, it should be well below the Prop 65 level (29 micrograms/day) – and more like 3 micrograms/day”. Roasted coffee itself has been shown to contain trace amounts of 4-Mel. Couple that with the fact that this coloring is in just about every processed food you can imagine, so you may be cumulatively eating more of this stuff than you realize – and no amount is safe." Better to search Food Babe for info on this, not Perez…

    A quick look on snopes.com would have told Perez this prior to reporting completely non factual information…..must have been a slow news day for him…..
