Those in attendance at Salt Lake City Bees baseball game on Tuesday night got to witness a medical miracle when local man, Shawn Wickard, threw out the first pitch.

The reason this was so special is because Shawn has been paralyzed for 16 years! But he stood up out of his wheelchair and launched one right over home plate!

Wickard has suffered from both lupus and a spinal disease. But nearly 10 years ago, he was the first person at the National Institute of Health to receive a stem cell transplant, and the results speak for themselves.

Shawn spoke about just how significant this pitch is for him, saying:

"I want more people to understand that modern medicine is curing and helping people and I'm just one of the examples of how well that medicine is working.”

We stand up and applaud you, sir.

the amazing possibilities of stem cell research, this being just one single example, was DELAYED BY THAT WALKING DROOLING MORON GEORGE W BUSH and all the other REPUBILCAN PARTY SCIENCE DENIERS AND BIBLE POUNDING HYPOCRITES WHO SIMPLY DO IT ALL FOR THE MONEY.

Re: jeanmichelbasketcase – All good things take time. The whole of the oppositional forces at the time (towards new stem cell research and its as yet to be hashed out then ethicality) may not have been Bush himself. No man is an island.

Thank you for posting the video of my pitch! Never thought I'd see this on your site..like ever! It's been a long haul but stem cells are curing many others with a variety of issues. This is my way of paying back the researchers and doctors who dreamed big. I think I want to throw out the first pitch in a major league game now….care to hook me up w that??
