A Protest Is Planned For The Dallas Cowboys First Game Because Of The Michael Sam Signing!

michael sam protest planned dallas cowboys game ap

We can’t say we’re surprised, but we’re absolutely disappointed.

After being cut by the St. Louis Rams, Michael Sam was signed to the Dallas Cowboys practice team earlier this week.

But some Texas residents aren’t happy about the openly gay player being on their roster.

A protest has been planned, though no organization has officially attached their name to it, where thousands of right-wing Christians are expected to show up outside of AT&T Stadium on Sunday during the game to protest signing Sam.

According to reports, people have been calling into radio station 105.3 The Fan, saying ridiculous things like:

“I don’t want my kids looking up to me and say Daddy, what does that mean that he’s gay?”

Umm, WHAT?! There’s nothing wrong with being gay, and it’s something children should absolutely know about, otherwise we’ll never get any closer to people being equal. Also, if Sam is on the field, they’re going to be talking about his performance, since he’s an underdog already, not where he and his boyfriend are going to dinner.

ESPN already made the mistake of treating him differently, and have since apologized.

Besides all of that, Sam is on the PRACTICE team, meaning he won’t see game time on Sunday anyway!

Some people really need a reality check!

I find it funny parents want to avoid answering questions from their children.

This is about football, and nothing else. If the guy is a great defensive end and doesn't let a soul through, it doesn't matter if he's purple with black polka dots.

Most of them so-called christians are probably closet gay themselves. They have nothing to do with football, just want to preach their self-righteous rhetoric.

Right wing and left wing Christians actually feel the same way. The majority of both could really care less.

It's not cool to be making statements like, there is nothing wrong with being gay, and implying that is the only valid opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions and just as people who are gay don't want hate coming their way, they shouldn't be spewing hate to others either. The simple requirement is respect here, not what is right and what is wrong. As long as people who think being gay is wrong have respect for people who are gay that is all that is needed. I am very pro gay rights, but i really have a hard time with people like you going on the attack everytime something or someone might have an anti gay opinion. What we don't need is the gay community taking all the negativity and hate coming their way and turn it around and throw it out there themselves. That isn't going to help us all heal, and learn to accept one another.

And yet those same people don't seem to have a problem with all the football players who have been arrested for domestic violence against their girlfriends or wives. Or the ones committing adultery. I've never seen them hold a protest over those things.

It makes me sad that this is even an issue. He's a football player. The same as all the rest of the team.
I have a 6 year old and I've explained that some boys like girls and some boys like boys and some girls like girls. He said ok and happily went on with his day. Why can't adults just accept things and get on with their own lives and not worry so much about how other people live.

Re: Ray – I was going to say the same thing!

Being gay is a mental illness and should be treated as such. It's only the result of liberal propaganda that people have been tricked into believing it's normal. The next step will be that we should accept pedophiles because 'they're born that way' too.

Too bad they will have another terrible year.
A LONG time ago I was north of Dallas when they signed Tony Dorsett (those were the days) and locals were calling him the million dollar N. They changed their tune after he played his first game.

    Re: Mad Dog

No psychiatrist agrees with you. But you know what is a mental illness? Your hate.

This is stupid. It's like a kid looking up to his daddy, and asking: "Daddy, what does that mean that he's black, or hispanic, or asian." Stupid.

Re: mick – Very good point.

Oh people get over yourselves. All you bible clutching "Christians" are nothing but hypocrites. There's probably more "gay" people among you then you know. What difference does it make if he's gay. This is about football not his sexual preference.
