50 Cent vs Ja Rule

1999-present

The origin of this beef is widely debated, but legend has it that Ja erroneously held 50 responsible for the theft of his jewelry and complained about it to Murder Inc. Records boss Irv Gotti. Then in 1999, an up-and-coming 50 mocked Ja's trademark "murdah!" on his track Life's on the Line, in which he spat: "Scream murder, I don't believe you." The punches turned physical months later when the Queens rappers crossed paths in an Atlanta hotel lobby. 50 allegedly took a swing at Ja with a Louisville Slugger, but missed. Ja allegedly wrestled the bat away and processed to "whip his ass," according to his memoir. The pair continued to trade bars on tracks until 2003 when Murder Inc. was shut down over a federal racketeering indictment. In the following years, beef between the two had cooled off -- despite the occasional Twitter spat -- but in January 2018, Ja came back in full force, calling 50 a "#ticklebooty" who would "rather have my dick in his mouth."
