Good thing Nina revealed in a recent interview (with a vampire) that Elena knows that something is rotten in the state of Mystic Falls, Virginia:

1) Claire Danes was the perfect choice for the part of Angela Chase on My So-Called Life!
2) She is TOTES gorgeous in everything that she has ever done!
But back when the teenage angst drama was casting for their lead role, producers had their heart set on someone else for the part!
According to a new profile on Danes in The New Yorker, she almost lost out on her breakout role to a then 16-year-old Silverstone!
Alicia actually auditioned for the part and immediately caught executive producer Ed Zwick's eye. He wanted to give her the gig. But his co-executive producer Marshall Herskovitz reportedly put an end to the idea, saying:
