Kerrie Orozco of the Omaha Police Department was killed in the line of duty on Wednesday — one day before she was supposed to start her maternity leave.
Officer Orozco was part of the department's fugitive task force. While being served a felony arrest warrant, the suspect — Marcus Wheeler — pulled out a gun and began shooting.
Gunfire was exchanged, and Kerrie was struck in her chest. She later succumbed to her wounds. The suspect was killed as well.
The 29-year-old officer was to begin her maternity leave the day after she was killed. She was not pregnant at the time of her death; her daughter Olivia Ruth was born premature three months ago and was to leave the hospital with Kerrie on Thursday.
Omaha's mayor and the Governor of Nebraska both ordered flags to be flown at half mast through Memorial Day. Kerrie's funeral will take place on Tuesday.
Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer was in disbelief over the death of the seven-year veteran:
A few months ago, we introduced you to Sean O'Brien aka #DancingMan.
The U.K. native initially became famous for a post on 4Chan (a photo-sharing site) that cruelly body-shamed him, and then even more famous for the outpouring of support.
A California woman named Cassandra Fairbanks started a campaign to find Sean using the hashtag #FindDancingMan, and his offline identity was quickly discovered.
Sean is having the last laugh dance, because he's the guest of honor at a massive dance party being held in Los Angeles this weekend and deejayed by Moby! Other celebrities going to show Sean support include Pharrell, Andrew W.K., and Monica Lewinsky.
Not only did we chit chat about her upcoming projects, but the 23-year-old also talked about having her daughter Sophia on the popular MTV show, along with her ongoing feud involving co-star Maci Bookout.
Listen to what Farrah had to say about her upcoming projects, daughter, Teen Mom (above)!

Well this isn't great news for CBS. Apparently Supergirl, the new CBS drama which is planned to air its pilot next fall, had high-quality copies leaked online to major file-sharing sites last night. This means Supergirl is now out there for anyone feeling dangerous enough to obtain an illegal copy of the pilot.
By this morning, it had reportedly already been download 120,000 times! Hopefully that's a good thing as they really have no idea how many actual copies are out there, but we're guessing it's only going to grow!
CBS recently showed an extended trailer for Supergirl at its upfront presentation in New York last week and it's gotten quite the buzz. They plan on adding it to their fall lineup on Monday in the pivotal 8pm anchor spot.
The show, created by the producers of Arrow and Flash, stars Melissa Benoist from Glee in the title role of Supergirl. It will follow her as she decided after 24 years to stop hiding her powers and embrace the role of a superhero and helping mankind.
Let's hope for a silver lining and that the show gets great initial reviews from these viewings!
