| Filed under: TV NewsAwardzEmmysJulia Louis-Dreyfus

Veep has been elected Outstanding Comedy Series for the second year in a row at the 2016 Emmys!

The HBO political satire beat out fellow funny half hours black-ish, Master of None, Modern Family, Silicon Valley, Transparent, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who won her own award earlier in the evening, very nearly had a dark lining on the silver cloud when she tripped on the steps up to the stage!

New showrunner David Mandel, who took over for creator Armando Ianucci this year, accepted the honor while the cast and crew cheered him on.

The most poignant moment of every Emmys ceremony is the In Memoriam, in which we celebrate the work of those who passed.

This year, television lost a true legend in Garry Marshall, the creator of The Odd Couple, Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy, and more.

Happy Days star Henry Winkler led off the segment by saying a few words about the brilliance and generosity of his late friend, and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
