Little Bobby Montoya was born a boy, but identifies as a girl.
You'd think a leader of a Girl Scout troop leader would have sympathy for 7-year-old dealing with such a serious identity issue — but when Bobby asked to join her troop the she was turned away.
For what reason? According to Bobby's mom the leader said
"I don't want to be in trouble by parents or my supervisor."
Well, perhaps the mom with the badges should have taken a moment to trouble her supervisor — or taken all of 2 seconds to google "how do Girl Scouts allow transgender kids?" — cause he Girl Scouts Of Colorado will gladly except Bobby.
According to the video (above), requests for transgender children to join the Girl Scouts have grown and the group has been working to support them and their families.
AW! You go Girl Scouts of America! This organization is teaching girls how to be women — the kind that respect, love, and understand the dynamic world we live in. We are so impressed!
However, we do find it pretty troubling that the Brownie leader was so quick to dash Bobby's dreams without the slightest bit of research.
