A new report has come out that the former Archbishop of Dublin, the late John Charles McQuaid, who was the head of the Catholic Church between 1940-1972, is accused of being tied to a sex abuse scandal.
Two men say that they were assaulted as young boys and are asking for an investigation from the Catholic Church. The leader of support group One In Four says:
"Dr McQuaid was Archbishop of Dublin for over 30 years and was at that time possibly the most powerful, influential and feared man in Ireland.
If Archbishop McQuaid was, as is alleged, a sex offender himself, then it is no wonder that the secrecy and cover-ups which have characterised the Church's handling of sexual abuse was so entrenched."
The Archbishop hasn't officially been named a sex offender, but the report does indicate that it most likely happened under his watch.
Yet another abuse of power with authority figures. Seriously, when will this end??
