Last-minute Christmas shopping can be stressful!
Dr. Kim Har says:
As the holidays approach and children look forward to long stretches of time off from school, many parents and educators worry that too much time away will cause kids to slack off and become lazy about their studies. This is will make it that much harder for them to re-adjust to school when vacation ends. While experts agree that it’s important for youngsters to take a break, there are fun ways to make sure their brains stay engaged.
FOR PRESCHOOLERS: My First Learning Library books. This is a great set of books that features the basics (numbers and words) in a really fun and colorful way for young children. A good way to get young children interested in reading.
Another idea is Melissa and Doug Primary Lacing Beads, which help strengthen fine motor skills and it’s also a fun way to learn and practice patterning. The kit contains 30 wooden beads with oversized holes that enable children to learn hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and color recognition.
Mind Ware is a high-quality, 40-block set that helps kids develop patterning and sequencing skills.
