One health conscious perezcious reader wants her fam to start the day with a healthy choice. She asks:
"What is the best breakfast food to jump start my family in the morning?"
Good question! That's something we'd like to know too!
Here's what Ashley Koff had to say:
"Quality of the ingredients is key.
The real issue may not be what’s in the breakfast food, but what is missing. Sugar provides quick brain and body energy, but when it isn’t balanced by nutrients like protein and healthy fats, and is, instead, allowed to zoom into the body because there isn’t any fiber to regulate it’s pace, sugar can be an energy disaster.
My recommendation is to look for a breakfast that is more nutrient-balanced (that means it contains some carbs+protein+ healthy fats). For example, a Nature’s Path Panini using waffles, Justin’s nut butter, and some sliced organic fruit is an excellent option. This combination produces a better nutrient balance for better energy."
