You want your baby to develop motor skills, but putting your little angel down on the floor can be scary!!
Perezcious daddy, Greg in Kentucky is worried for his baby daughter who is battling gravity while learning to sit up by herself.
He ask our all things mommy expert, Amy Malin:
"Hi Amy. My daughter is trying to sit up by herself but she keeps toppling over. I'm afraid she is going to fall and bang her head. I know she needs to learn to sit up straight but I'm worried about her safety. Any tips?"
Of course she has tips, Greg!
And here they are:
"Hi Greg! It is a really exciting time when your baby can sit up by him/herself. This is a big step and you definitely want to foster your daughter's development.
I can totally relate to your fear of your little angel banging her head and wanting to make sure she is safe. I used the Snoogle pillow when I was pregnant and instead of just having it sit and collect dust in the garage now, I found a great use for it with my son.
Since the Snoogle wraps around like a snake, I always wrap the Snoogle around my son when he's sitting on his play-mat so that way if he falls in any direction, he will always land softy on the Snoogle pillow. If you don't have a Snoogle, then you can put regular pillows on all sides of your daughter for the same effect. Also, for added safety, have your lil cutie practicing sitting on a carpeted surface instead of on tile or wood floors as it is much softer. I also have a foam play-mat that my son sits on which adds another layer of protection.
Congrats on your baby girl!"
That's double congrats!
