WTF! Republican Senator Proposes Bill That Would Label Single Parenthood As Child Abuse

Horrible, horrible idea!!

Wisconsin state Senator Glenn Grothman (R) has proposed a bill that would force the state to declare that single parenthood or "nonmarital parenthood" would be considered a form of child abuse and neglect.

It also includes a section that would force the state to distribute official literature declaring it as well.

The bill states:

Section 1. 48.982 (2) (g) 2. of the statutes is amended to read: 48.982 (2) (g) 2. Promote statewide educational and public awareness campaigns and materials for the purpose of developing public awareness of the problems of child abuse and neglect. In promoting those campaigns and materials, the board shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.

Section 2. 48.982 (2) (g) 4. of the statutes is amended to read: 48.982 (2) (g) 4. Disseminate information about the problems of and methods of preventing child abuse and neglect to the public and to organizations concerned with those problems. In disseminating that information, the board shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.

In Wisconsin, single parents make up a third of all parents and most of these are women.

According to Grothman, single parents are all part of a "leftist conspiracy," adding:

"The Left and the social welfare establishment want children born out of wedlock because they are far more likely to be dependent on the government."

He's also requested in the past to cut funding for kindergarteners AND introduced a bill that "would change state law retroactively to eliminate the claims of 173 children who are lead poisoning victims."

Wow. This guy is an absolute tool and obviously doesn't give a single care about child welfare.

His ideas seem so ridiculous, yet somehow, he's still a member of the Senate.

Here's hoping the Wisconsin people know better and veto this bill.
