Are they growing Girl Scout cookies, just wondering?
HA! JK! We all know that cookies are bad for you and gardening is all about creating your own delicious and super healthy fruits and veggies!
Yes, FLOTUS Michelle Obama marked the fourth annual spring planting by inviting children, including some very lucky Girl Scouts, to help plant veggies in the White House kitchen garden.
More than two dozen children rolled up their sleeves and used their green thumbs to plant carrots, onions, broccoli, swiss chard, cauliflower, lettuce, spinach, and kale.
They also sprinkled some seeds for dill, cilantro, and garlic.
Before getting down in the dirt, Michelle told the kids:
"It’s fun to live here. It’s fun, especially on a day like this because you guys are going to help us plant the garden, right? Yay! It’s so exciting!
A lot of times when you grow your own vegetables and fruits, they taste really good. They taste better than a lot of stuff you’ll get in a grocery store — trust me. My kids have done it. They’re not big fans of all vegetables, but if they help to work on it they’re much more excited about trying it out."
