A parent's worse nightmare become a reality when their 13-year-old daughter, Rachel Ehmke, hanged herself after three months of constant bullying from her peers.
Rachel, a 7th grader, was found hanged in her home on April 29th after being harassed by her classmates who called her a "slut," "prostitute," and other abusive names.
Someone had also sent a text message that circulated throughout the school which was described by one parent as "pretty explicit."
Her parents said their daughter left a note that read:
"I'm fine = I wish I could tell you how I really feel."
Here's what the father said about bullying:
"They gotta realize that keyboard, that little finger movement from your computer, has the power to kill."
Our deepest sympathies go out to everyone who knew Rachel.
We're so sorry this has happened.
Tragedies such as this reinforces the fact that bullying is a HUGE problem in schools everywhere and actions must be taken to prevent bullying in schools. Bullying needs to END.
