Perezitos's nutrition expert Margaux J. Rathbun has some wonderful nutrition tips for you and your little ones!
This week, Margaux wants to show U how to get creative with nut butters!
"Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are soooo circa 1995! Come on, Mom! It's time to get creative with incorporating peanut butter and other fabulous nut butters into your kid's diet. One of my favorite tasty treats are bananas coated in nut butter and then rolled in chia seeds. This is a great way to incorporate a lot of great nutrients into your kid's like omega-3, protein, antioxidants, and potassium. Instead of peanut butter, try using raw organic almond butter (you can find this at most health food stores). Almonds are a great source of B vitamins, calcium, and iron. They are also an amazing way to incorporate calcium and iron into your kid's diet. If your kids aren't fans of bananas, you can use celery (a good course of immune-boosting vitamin C). Another fun way to use nut butter is to mix it into your morning smoothies! It doesn't take much (about 2 tablespoons) and you can mix it with berries, pears, apples, and your favorite kind of milk."
