That’s the amount the early death-rate among children aged 19 years-old (or younger) has DECLINED between 2000 and 2009.
Not really that great considering a whopping 9,000 American kids died in 2009 as a result of accidental injuries and accidents such as car crashes and fires
What’s worse is some causes such as suffocation, have increased 54% in babies under a year-old and poisonings SKY ROCKETED 91% among teens aged 15-19 due to a HUGE problem with prescription and drug overdoses.
Ileana Arias, principal deputy director of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) says this is an avoidable shame!!!
“As horrible as these numbers are, the facts are even more troubling and difficult to accept when you consider that most of these events are predictable and preventable.”
So SAD but we hope these figures hit home, and encourage parents to keep an extra eye on their kiddies!!!
